Part 6 — How can we define God's Eternal Plan?

God’s Eternal Plan - 6

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

Romans 8:28-29

This passage shows us very clearly the purpose of God. God wants a family of many sons and daughters in the image and likeness of Jesus Christ.

A family…UNITY

Unity is the fundamental requirement for harmony in the family and in any relationship as well as in fulfilling God's purpose for the life of Man. (John 17:20-22; I Corinthians 1:10-12; II Corinthians 3:1-4; 2 Corinthians 10:16-17; Ephesians 2:14-16; Ephesians 4:1-6; Philippians 1:27; Philippians 2:1-5)

…of many sons and daughters…MULTIPLICATION

Through the multiplication of mankind, God spreads His image and glory over all the earth. Even after the Fall, this mission is continued through the multiplication of disciples. (Matthew 28:18-30) He who has the life of Christ will bear fruit and create disciples in His image.

…“in the image and likeness of Jesus”…EDIFICATION

God is not concerned with quantity, but with quality. The Plan of God implies the multiplication of lives that are edified in unity, until they become like Christ and share His perfection. (Ephesians 1:4-5; II Corinthians 3:18)

This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.
